Displays a wide range of network information and diagnostics, including server pinging, DNS lookup, reverse DNS lookup, WHOIS queries, HTTP response header inspection, trace routes, port checking, SSL version and cipher scanning, Path MTU discovery, host location lookup, internet reachability check, and IP address risk assessment. It also provides details on the device's current network setup and connection, including netstat information. Wake-on-LAN functionality is available for waking up machines. Additionally, the optional NetSentry feature monitors network interfaces and provides warnings when usage limits are about to be exceeded.

The app offers a home screen widget for long-running pings and a Wake-on-LAN widget for waking specific hosts. It conveniently remembers recently used hosts, IP addresses, and DNS servers for auto-completion.

The results of operations can be copied (by long-clicking on the output text), sent via email, or saved as text or PDF files. A history of recent operations is also available for easy access.

Various options are provided, such as using an alternative name server, adjusting Ping TTL, displaying ping times for each traceroute step, performing Broadcast Ping, using HTTPS, setting the HTTP port number, and selecting DNS record types to query.

The app is ad-free.

For support and assistance with any issues you may encounter while using the app, I encourage you to join the dedicated Google Group "Ping & Net".

Why is the GPS permission necessary? The GPS functionality is only accessed if you enable the "Show Location" checkbox in the Ping Options dialog. By default, this checkbox is turned off, meaning your location will not be tracked unless explicitly chosen. The ability to track location is primarily useful for measuring ping times across large areas like factories or university campuses. When a long-running ping with location is completed, a Google Earth file (.dmz) is generated, displaying the ping times and the geographic location of each ping. Most users will not require this option, so there is no need for concern. Additionally, location data remains stored on your device and is not sent or uploaded anywhere unless you choose to attach the Google Earth file to an outgoing email. Ultimately, you have full control over where that email is sent. Therefore, any negative comments in the Play Store regarding privacy concerns are baseless.
